Ryan Dickson scored two goals, Clayton Bouchard and Jimmy Perkins had a goal apiece and Quaker Valley powered past Mars, 4-2, in the PIHL Class A Penguins Cup championship Saturday at Consol Energy Center.
Quaker Valley Hockey Team – ChampionshipKevin Kenny had three assists for the top-seeded Quakers (20-1-1), which denied the No. 2 Planets (19-3-0) their fourth straight Penguins Cup title. Robert Foley scored both goals late in the third period for Mars, also the two-time defending state champion, with the final tally coming on a power play with 1:25 left in the game.
Quaker Valley, which won Penguins Cups in 2006 and 2008 and a state championship in 2006, will play Bayard Rustin out of West Chester in tomorrow’s state championship game at 3 p.m. at Robert Morris’ Island Sports Center.
