June 21, 2018 Tomahawks Welcome Craig Saylor as New Member of Ownership Group

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Tomahawks local ownership group voted unanimously on Wednesday to approve the sale and transfer of ownership stakes of Jim Vasilko to Craig Saylor, who will join the Johnstown Hockey Group, LLC.

Saylor, a Jerome resident, is the recently retired Chief Executive Officer for both Somerset Hospital and Somerset Hospital Foundation. He is a board member for JARI, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, Senior Choice, Cambria Somerset Council and former president of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m very excited to see my passion for business and hockey come full circle, Saylor said. “I have been part of the local hockey community since my childhood. I was a season ticket holder for the Chiefs and I have thoroughly embraced the Tomahawks on ice product and the commitment they have showed to the community.

“It is an honor to become a part of the ownership group and I’m committed to carry on the great hockey tradition with such a quality group of staff, players, sponsors and fans.”

The Tomahawks were established in 2012 after a group of businessmen purchased and re-located a North American Hockey League franchise from Wasilla, Alaska, to Johnstown.

“Craig will bring strong business acumen and an extensive hockey background to the current owners of our Tomahawks franchise,” said team president Richard Bouchard. “We believe his passion for the game and his commitment to the community puts the Tomahawks in a position to continue to be a highly positive asset to the area.”

Led by Esmark, Inc. founder and CEO James Bouchard, the Tomahawks’ ownership group includes a strong blend of national and local business leaders along with a highly recognizable sports figure in former Pittsburgh Steeler and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jack Ham.
